The heart of Blues dancing, fundamentally, is just messin’ around – a playful and profane outpouring of whatever you’ve got cooped up inside of you, be it joy, frustration, anger, or a soup of all three. We invite you to bring whatever you’ve got, and come play.
But play and collaboration is easier if you and your partners have a commonality of language. The lesson this month offers a journey through Black American vernacular solo moves, where we will Grind, Mooch, and Camel Walk our way toward a deeper vocabulary. We will try the myriad moves out, both solo and in partnership, and with different flavors of smoothness, sharpness, and sass. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve run out of things to say in your dance, or you’ve seen your partner do a cool thing but have no clue how to put it in your own body, this is the lesson for you!
